Top Gear Wiki

The Italian Job was the name of the fifteenth Clarkson home video release, as part of a series which would be released yearly through to 2011. It was filmed around the same time that Series 16 of Top Gear was being filmed, though came out a full month before the season premiered on BBC 2.

Synopsis[]

For the final two solo releases, Clarkson turned his typical format into more of a generalized automotive DVD, this time around celebrating the triumph of the Italian automobile industry. He heads to Fiorano, Imola and Mugello in order to test out some of Ferrari and Lamborghini's greatest crowning successes in their shared company histories. Various non-Italian cars also appear in the DVD, such as the then-latest offerings from Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, in addition to the Chevrolet Camaro and Ariel Atom 500.

Trivia[]

  • This was the first of two releases to come out on Blu-Ray in addition to DVD.
  • This was also the first of two releases to feature no destruction of undesirable cars. Instead, an alternate segment was shown which counted down from #15, showing off all his past destructions.
  • The classic touring car race was filmed on the 7th of August, 2010, as this forum thread can attest.
