Extreme Motorhome Race is a special motorsport race which involves motorhomes.
Overview[]
Hammond introduces the concept of the race, and then went to meet up with touring car drivers in the old Essex raceway, which was the home of banger racing. After the roll call introducing the drivers and their selection of motorhomes, everyone spent the entire night before the race by getting rid of all the necessities in the interior, with the exception of James May.
Drivers[]
- Richard Hammond - Ford Midas (#1)
- Matt Neal - Mitsubishi L300 (#2)
- Anthony Reid - Toyota LiteAce (#3)
- Tom Chilton - Chevrolet Motorhome (#5)
- Mat Jackson - Fiat Ducato MV70 Globetrotter (#4)
- James May - Ford Transit (#6)
Race[]
The race, which apparently took place on Friday the 13th, was set for 15 laps and no body contact, the latter rule being inevitably broken. Because he refused to strip down the Transit's interior, James was at the back of the back for most of the race, and he attempted to take a shortcut to no avail. Soon, Richard's motorhome comes loose as a result of frequent body contact with other drivers. The LiteAce (driven by Anthony Reid) crossed first, with Tom Chilton's motorhome in second place and Hammond finishing third. James was unable to finish the race due to hitting a shelving unit that fell from Richard's motorhome.
