The Gumpert Apollo was the name of a German supercar produced by automaker Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH in Altenburg from 2005 through to 2012.
On the 27th of July, 2008 edition of Top Gear, an Apollo Sport was featured on the show. It was first driven by Richard Hammond, before The Stig took it round for a timed lap. With a record-breaking time of 1:17.1, the Apollo Sport was the fastest on the 'Power Laps Board' for over two years, until it was dethroned after 27 further episodes had aired in Series 15, Episode 5 by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Its time has since been beaten by other supercars and is currently the 12th fastest car around the track.
