The Hearsebulance, also called the Ecnalubma, was an ambulance based on the Ford Scorpio Cardinal hearse.
Design[]
Originally, the Hearsebulance was black, but James painted a blue and white colour scheme alongside the "Ecnalubma" on the front bonnet (James' excuse for this was that he couldn't get back-to-front letters). He also added a motorised ramp door purposely to load the patients, though this proved a bad decision.
Challenge[]
At the Top Gear test track, James takes much time to lift up and close the motorised tailgate door. Upon it's departure driven by The Stig, the tailgate door instantly prompts open as both his co-presenters Jeremy and Richard left so amused and had to seal the door with a tape, leaving the timer still going. The Hearsebulance did well on the corners but had difficulty crossing speedhumps due to the ride height and lower ground clearance. His lap time was horribly slow at 12 minutes.
In the patient delivery challenge, James picked up the longest survival time of the patient. While on its way to the nearby hospital, his Hearsebulance had to stop for a while as a man in a Peugeot 407 took a long time to make a complete U-turn.
James made attempts to take a shortcut, but damaged his Hearsebulance having crashed into a wall and promptly returns to the road. Unbeknownst to James, his Hearsebulance ramp door pops open again, dislodging the patient and leaving them to drag along the road, dismembering them. James was cross first but eventually realised he lost the patient.
Jeremy questioned James where the patient was. James's excuse was that the patient got better and went to the pub, but Jeremy knew the patient's true fate.
