Janet Trewin was a presenter on the original format of Top Gear from Series 26 in 1991 through to Series 29 in 1993, with a further one-off appearance in 1994's Series 31. She would appear in just 9 episodes, and whose role largely mimicked that of fellow female presenter Sue Baker, where she would investigate various headlines and talked about the dangers faced by road users.

Trewin is perhaps infamously known for presenting an untrue segment on a chemical compound allegedly known as "Fluorolastomec", otherwise known as Veton, which was to be found from melted rubber components on burnt-out cars. Allegedly, if skin contact with this chemical was made, then it would continue to burn through a person's skin until amputation was the only option. This was obviously false, and was purely sensationalist in nature.
