The Maserati MC12 is a two-seater sports car produced by Italian car maker Maserati to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. The car entered production in 2004 with 30 cars produced (five of which were not for sale). A further 25 were produced in 2005 making a total of 50 cars available for customers, each of which were pre-sold for €600 000.

The MC12 is based upon the Ferrari Enzo using the same engine albeit detuned to 624 BHP, revised bodywork with an additional rear-wing, Pirelli tyres were used instead of Bridgestone, etc. But the rear window was obscured due to its homologated for racing. The gear ratio are nearly identical to the Enzo but the 6th gear were slightly lowered as well the final-drive ratio.

  • In Series 6, Episode 2, Clarkson tested the MC12, he criticized the car in a comparison of the Biturbo and the Enzo, nevertheless the car has smoother ride. With the hands of the Stig, the MC12 lapped at 1:18.9 beating the Enzo by 0.1 second.
