Base 3000GT has an FWD with less than 100-hp, a retractable hardtop both either FWD or AWD. 3000GT's body design is a pre-modern with pop-up headlamps similar to the fellow Japanese car such as Honda NSX, Mazda RX-7, and Toyota MR2, etc.
Engines are 3-litre both naturally-aspirated (common in FWD; AWD in Japan only as SR) and twin-turbocharged (for AWD using the VR-4 system with 4WS but only with DOHC).
