The Nio EP9 is a two-seat high-performance electric sports car manufactured by RML group on behalf of Chinese electric car company Nio, not assisted by their Formula E racing division. The name EP9 stands for Electric Performance 9.
The car has a total output of 1 MW (1,341 hp; 1,360 PS) and an acceleration time from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.7 seconds and 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.1 seconds, and set a lap time of 6:45.9 around the Nürburgring. The EP9 is purely designed for track use only and is not road-legal, as it does not comply with the laws and regulations to be registered in China.
The EP9 was sold for £1,150,000, while six of the cars were sold to Nio investors for £2,500,000 each.
Appearances[]
- In Chinese Food for Thought, Richard Hammond was tasked with reviewing the EP9 due to the car being only available in the UK for one day and his co-hosts not being available at the time. Richard compared the EP9's specs to the Rimac Concept One, which he previously crashed, and compares the EP9's blistering speed and acceleration to a jet engine, alluding to another vehicle that Hammond crashed. However, Richard praised the car's brakes and grip. At the Eboladrome, Abbie Eaton set a lap time of 1:15 in the EP9, beating the Aston Martin Vulcan by half a second, but being slower than the McLaren Senna by 2.1 seconds.
