The Porsche Carrera GT is a supercar manufactured by German automobile Porsche from 2004 to 2007. The development of the car traced back when Porsche initially to create a LMP (Le Mans Prototype) car for 1999 season with a traditional Flat-6 turbocharged engine, later it was replaced the V10, but was scrapped in 2000.

The concept version was shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2000 with initially 5.5 L V10 engine, the production version the displacement was increased to 5.7 L. The car was originally built with 1,500 units, but it produced only 1,270 units despite of the safety regulations in 2007.

Appearances[]

  • In Series 4, Episode 4 of Top Gear, Jeremy reviewed the Carrera GT at the Top Gear Test Track, he praised it incessantly for it's speed, noise, fierceness and beauty. At the hands of the Stig, it set a lap time of 1:19.8 making it the fastest car at the the time.
  • In Series 4, Episode 5, Jeremy put the Carrera GT on the "Uncool" section of the Cool Wall to protests from Richard and the audiences, with Jeremy calling the Carrera GT "vulgar".
  • In Clarkson: Hot Metal, Jeremy compaares the Carrera GT to the McLaren Mercedes SLR, once again praising the Porsche incessantly. Once again he states taht the SLR is a superior everday car but the Carrera GT is the more exciting.
  • In Series 5, Episode 2, Jeremy once again reviews the Carrera GT but states that despite it's excitement it was designed with the idea of holding back as he comapred it, the Pagani Zonda and the Ferrari Enzo, to the Jaguar XJ220, the McLaren F1 and the Ferrari F40.
