The third episode of James May's Cars of the People aired on the 24th of August, 2014. It was presented by James May, as the third of six Top Gear spinoffs, and served as the closing episode to the first series. It was the 172nd episode overall.
Synopsis[]
"A lifetime ago, car ownership was a great privilege. We can all remember our grandparents saying, "Only the doctor had one". But, by the time I was born, having your own wheels was beginning to look like an inalienable right, and public transport was a hangover from an earlier, less enlightened time. So now definitions must be revised if we are to separate mere motor vehicles from the true cars of the people."
After a brief introductory sequence, May announces that the theme of the show's third episode would be centred around aspiration - the cars people always dreamed about, such as the Lamborghini Countach and Porsche 911, before moving on to hot hatchbacks and rally-bred road cars; performance attainable by the masses.
