The third episode of the tenth series of Top Gear aired on the 28th of October, 2007. It was presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig. Ronnie Wood, Fiona Bruce, Dermot Murnaghan and John Humphrys were the guest stars, with the latter three appearing in the Peel P50 segment.
Synopsis[]
Introduced solely by Clarkson, we start this episode with a letter, imploring the show to feature more cars aimed at regular people. As a result, James May was only too happy to "oblige", presenting a segment on the-then new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead.
Tonight...[]
- James drives a Rolls Royce...
- Richard drives a Bugatti Veyron...
- And [Jeremy] drive[s] something that isn't either of those things.
Trivia[]
- The statement said by May towards the start of the Drophead segment, "if a car spends too long sitting on the deck of an aircraft carrier, it eventually gets launched off the ramp thing down at the end" alludes to The Black Stig's passing in Series 3, Episode 1.
- This episode marked the first time Richard Hammond had driven a car at speed since his horror crash the previous summer.
- The helmet worn by Hammond during the Veyron vs. Eurofighter segment, featuring a cartoon hamster, was donated by well-known fansite Finalgear, and had their logo on the side. This website was the only way non-UK citizens could watch the show prior to its global introduction in the mid-'00s.
