The thirteenth series of the BBC motoring show Top Gear, starring presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, premiered on the 21st of June, 2009 and concluded on the 2nd of August, 2009.
Viewing figures stayed relatively consistent in comparison to its immediate predecessor, with over 7.17 million viewers per episode. The premiere episode saw 7.86 million people tuning in, making it the fourth most-watched episode of the show's entire history. Though there weren't any particular episodes which stood out from the rest in a critical sense, the show continued to be a huge success and would easily see a fourteenth series later in the year, premiering in November in a revised HD format.
Following his emotional review of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage many believed that Jeremy was to depart from Top Gear following the conclusion of this series. However due to the sheer success, he remained in his position of lead presenter for the next 9 series.
