The seventeenth series of the BBC motoring show Top Gear, starring presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, premiered on the 26th of June, 2011, and concluded on the 31st of July, 2011. It featured six episodes.

Viewing figures fell to 6.42 million people on average, a loss of 770,000 viewers per episode. In stark contrast to its immediate predecessor, only one episode would break 7 million views; Episode 4, which featured the Car Train Challenge. Regardless, Series 18 would commence in December 2011.

Production[]

During the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix weekend, the trio were spotted completing laps in their hot hatchbacks: a Citroën DS3 Racing, a Renault Clio RS and a Fiat 500C Abarth. The presenters were also spotted with their respective drivers: Jeremy with Bernie Ecclestone, Richard with Christian Horner and James with Flavio Briatore.
