Top Gear Wiki

The sixth episode of the seventh series of Top Gear aired on the 27th of December, 2005, following a two-week hiatus and airing on a Tuesday. It was presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig. David Walliams and Jimmy Carr were the guest stars, and the final people to drive the Suzuki Liana around the Top Gear test track (barring Formula 1 drivers). Carr had previously appeared in Series 5, Episode 4.

Synopsis[]

To start this year's Christmas Special off, Jeremy introduces the audience to the "resident elf", Richard Hammond. He goes on to state that what makes this Christmas Special special is that there isn't any 'Christmas stuff' in it, before the pair introduce us to the BMW 130i and Volkswagen Golf R32.

Tonight...[]

  • Can a Mazda go faster than a dog?
  • Can a frog go faster than a Peugeot?
  • And can [Jeremy] go faster than... [him]self?

Trivia[]

  • During the same filming sessions as Clarkson's NSX vs. video game challenge at Laguna Seca, a test drive of the non-UK Pontiac Solstice would also be filmed, but never saw the light of day due to its apparently underwhelming driving experience, in addition to its lack of familiarity with the show's largely British audience.
