Steve Berry was a presenter on the original format of Top Gear from Series 30 in 1993 through to Series 41 in 1999. He would appear in over 95 episodes and was the show's primary motorcycling aficionado, reviewing the latest bikes and presenting segments on motorcycle-related events such as the Daytona Beach Bike Week.
He was the long sought-after replacement for Tom Boswell, who had died in late 1990 and left Top Gear without a permanent motorcycle correspondent for the next two years.
From 1994 - 1998, he would present the Top Gear radio show for BBC Radio 5 Live alongside Zog Ziegler. After two minor appearances in the main show's 41st series, he would be relegated to appearing on Top Gear GTi, a lower-budget spin-off produced by UKTV until it, alongside its original show, would be cancelled in late 2001. He also presented Top Gear Ex-Files, a 10-part compilation series of the best moments from the show, also produced and aired on UKTV. On GTi, he would test drive some of the cheaper newest cars on sale, such as the Perodua Kelisa and Kia Sedona.
Much like other hosts of the time period, Berry released his own home video on VHS; Berry on Bikes: Judgement Day, which came out in 1997. It remains an obscure title and was not followed by a sequel.
At the time of his departure in 1999, he was the joint-8th longest serving host of the show, alongside Frank Page. As of 2019 he remains the joint-11th most frequently appearing host.
