- Below is a synopsis for Top Gear: The Perfect Road Trip, the show's fifth home video release.
It's a normal Tuesday in Britain, Jeremy Clarkson announces, over various pieces of footage showing congestion and traffic jams. There's a slight drizzle in the air and traffic is at a standstill. Joined by fellow host Richard Hammond behind a barrier on the A40 near London, Clarkson continues by stating that both cars and driving as a whole is supposed to be more fun than that. Richard then decides that what they should do is give the audience an hour or two of escapism featuring the perfect roads and the perfect cars in the quest for The Perfect Road Trip.
Strangely, Hammond adds, Jeremy suggested that the pair were to start this trip in Venice, where the streets are full of water. Jeremy states this is because he wanted to drive a Riva Aquarama, which is in his opinion the most beautiful thing ever made and is powered by two V8 engines, and they are going to go north to Pau in France, the site of the very first Grand Prix race. During this journey, the pair of Hammond and Clarkson are going to experience all there is to experience in terms of driving for what they each believe is the perfect mode of transport. Everything will be perfect, Clarkson adds, especially since there's no James May.
