Toyota 86 (known as the Subaru BRZ, formerly the Scion FR-S (2012-2016)) is a 2+2 sports car manufactured by Toyota and Subaru.
Nomenclature derived with the combination of the well-known coupe/hatchback the AE86, very rare 2000GT (2000GT is also applied as TRD 2000GT in MR2 due shared displacement) and Sports 800.
The development of 86, traced back as a part of FT-project after Toyota acquired formerly FHI (including now as Subaru), it became a partnership for further development prior to launch 5 years later. Production began in 2012, engines powered a 2-litre flat-4 (with their own engine codes) with petrol direct injection, manual gearbox as standard etc. Scion also received the model until its defunct in 2016.
In 2017, GT86 and BRZ received a facelift with the newer front look, this later revamped in second facelift in late production years. The first-gen concluded in 2020, now replaced a redesigned second-gen branded as "GR86"; BRZ retain the rebadge model introduced in November 2021. Engine displacement now at 2.4-litre.
UK models released in very limited units, all sold out after only a one-day sale.
