Toyota GR Supra is a performance flagship sports car and revived model of the Toyota Supra. MKV Supra is the spiritual successor to MKIV. Like from the predecessor, Supra retains a liftback coupe, RWD and straight-6 turbocharged engine. However, the engine and drivetrain is sourced from BMW, straight-4 engine is also offered in some markets.

After the Supra demise production in August 2002. This was the time Toyota stopped making sports car and went for development. In 2014, Toyota revealed the FT-1 a basis for the production model at the time that have to renew their trademark this would approve in that year; 2 years later for EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). Production plant will be in Graz, Styria which later confirmed.

In 2018, pre-production Supra unveiled in Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 2019, MKV Supra officially launched, under as "Toyota GR Supra" from Gazoo Racing. Unlike from the predecessor, forced induction now with twin-scroll turbocharger with 335-hp (382-hp in Japan) for inline-6 and 250-hp for inline-4 (some markets including UK), an 8-speed flappy paddle gearbox, shorter but wider. Wheels come with an 18 and 19-inch (for global market), and 17-inch (exclusively in Japan).

Japanese markets has its two straight-4 trim level as (SZ, and SZ-R). Despite it's equipped with automatic gearbox, in 2022, the GR Supra finally offered a manual gearbox only for straight-6 engine with slightly wider on the console now in some global market (including UK).

  • In Series 27, Episode 5, McGuinness takes a spin the newly launched MKV Supra, he praised the performance and refinement. He compared the GT86 and even the Lexus LFA. Meanwhile Harris (on Extra Gear) was expressing dismay for the car for being a "BMW-ness". In Top Gear test track with the hands of The Stig, the car lapped in 1:23.1.
  • In TGM YouTube channel Ollie Kew takes the manual gearbox version of the GR Supra and then compares the newly launched the Toyota GR86 (including the mentioned the Subaru BRZ). Once again, he favours both.
