Toyota Supra is a performance flagship sports car manufactured and produced by the Japanese automaker Toyota from 1979 to 2002 and resurrected in 2019 to present.

The car was badged as a Celica platform from first to second generation. By the third to fourth generation, the Celica nameplate was dropped and simply as "Supra" which became a performance flagship it retains the RWD and inline-6 engine configuration, whereas the previous Celica badged nameplate shifted to FWD with an additional of AWD for performance homologated version with the launched of Celica GT-Four. In fourth generation, the car received major redesign with an additional of rear wing, a newly developed over-engineered the famous 3-litre 2JZ engine (later includes the VVT-i) and the 6-speed manual gearbox. It became a popular in car import scene and a sophisticated tuning with many aftermarket performance parts.

In 1998, the production discontinued in USA, but in Japan continues until August 2002, this was one of the iconic cars were discontinued along the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Nissan Silvia (Nissan 200SX in Europe including UK) and Mazda RX-7 due to newly restrictive emission standards. This was the time that Toyota stopped making production sports car but still continuing for further development.

In 2014, Toyota revealed the FT-1 concept which was a basis for the next generation, the Supra nameplate filed for renewal and submitted in 2016, it is reported that would be powered sourced from the BMW this would later confirm. The camouflaged pre-production models were revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018. The MKV production model commenced in year later in 2019.

The MKV Supra officially launched in 2019, in outside market known as "Toyota GR Supra", the engine has a single turbocharged only offers in 335-hp (382-hp in Japan) inline-6 (inline-4 but optional in Japan in some other markets including the UK), an 8-speed automatic flappy paddle gearbox, the wheels come with 17, 18 or 19-inch both front and rear. The car was shorter than the predecessor but also wider.

In 2022, the car finally receives a 6-speed manual gearbox (for 2023 model) only offers on inline-6, soon to arrive outside markets (including the UK). The special edition launched the A91-Carbon Fibre with many revisions.

  • In Series 30, Episode 5 (Old Top Gear), Tiff Needell takes the MKIV Supra turbo for a roadtest. The car has performance-wise, good handling and comfort, but he disliked the steering feel for being too light and sometimes jittering on high-speed direction changes. He compared the Porsche 968 and Ferrari 348 and the price as well.
  • In Series 27, Episode 5, McGuinness takes a spin the newly launched MKV Supra, he praised the performance and refinement. He compared the GT86 and even the Lexus LFA. Meanwhile Harris (on Extra Gear) was expressing dismay for the car for being a "BMW-ness". In Top Gear test track with the hands of The Stig, the car lapped in 1:23.1.
    • Again in same episode. McGuinness recalls the MKIV Supra as a supercar killer where he mentions the price is cheaper than other European sports car. A convoy of MKIV Supra consisting mostly a tuned version where he stated can produce a big horsepower.
